Meet Lil Calzy fast rising star

Sensational singer Lilcalzy was born and raised in Port Harcourt.

He spent part of his childhood in orazi a town in Ikwerre, Rivers State and some years at Maiduguri.


Lil calzy is the first child in a family of four, born into the family of Mr. & Mrs. Jonah isong.

Music Career

Lil calzy started his music career in his early age, at that time as a rapper with the stage name, CKJ.

Before switching to afro pop changing his name to lilcalzy In 2014, lilcalzy was able to record and release his first tracks, “Baby Janet” featuring some artistes – which became a most played track in various radio stations in his hometown.


The musician grew up in River’s State and attended both his primary and secondary school education there.


lilcalzy has acknowledged that the love of arts grew in him, as he is not from a family of artists.

While he has written poems for most of his adult life, the artist knew that he could sing since he was 6 years old, he always considered singing something he could do but not as a serious talent and not something he could even do to make money from.

While he always writes poems and some song lyrics, it was at the secondary school where he embraced his talent.

The three musicians who influenced his singing greatly are Passenger, Wande Coal, and Jon Bellion.

Speaking to Lilcalzy, he revealed growing up and listening to Celine Dion, Elton John songs a lot which helped him discover himself, there’s this song by him “Sacrifice,” that was consider the greatest song ever made.

“My Dad was always playing Celine Dion, and my mum always played Yinka Ayefele and Tope Alabi” he said.

Those influences made me realize how beautiful music is but it transcended into people that really started influencing my sound, and they are just three people: Passenger, Wande Coal, and Jon Bellion.

Lilcalzy started to perform at some shows during his school days and was popular among students.

This was when he decided that maybe something could come out of making music.

His initial plan upon completion of his first degree at university of port harcourt before he moved to maiduguri, he stayed with some friends he had made at school as he had no family there.

He began attending shows indiscriminately and would beg to sing at some points.

At others, he would pay or have his friends pay for him.

However, the young artist knew that he was not making much progress.

Thus, he had to rethink his strategy.

Fortunately, one of his friends had some music equipment in his house he started making his own songs and writing for other people.
