A fuel tanker explosion in the Amoke village of Apa Local Government Area in Benue State is said to have killed dozens of people.
According to the DAILY POST, the incident occurred on Monday morning when a vehicle transporting petroleum product caught fire in the region.
The number of deaths could not be determined at the time, according to an eyewitness, Godfrey Idede, who spoke with a DAILY POST writer.
He said the incident caused panic in the area and brought commercial activity to a halt.
While verifying the incidence to newsmen, Yakubu Mohammed, the Corps Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) in Benue State, stated.
Mohammed who attributed the unfortunate incident to brake failure said aside from the three victims, no other person sustained injury.He stated that the fire was put out after some hours, noting that there was no Fire Service stationed close to the scene of the incident.
